Special Needs Community Picnic & Awards
Recognizing significant contributions in the disability community

Families, businesses, state and non-profit agencies are coming together Friday, August 12th at Kincaid Park Chalet, to connect and recognize those who have made significant contributions to benefit individuals with special needs in Alaska. Representative Ivy Spohnholz and Judge Michael Jeffery will be honored guests and speakers for the event.

The event will consist of a community picnic with an award ceremony.  This event started 7 years ago as an opportunity for families to connect with one another; and for community members to publicly recognize the hard work and dedication of others. Past recipients include politicians such as Representative Charisse Millett and Senator Johnny Ellis, independent care coordinators, as well as programs through businesses and non-profits.  This year, winners will be announced at 1:30 p.m. by Judge Jeffery following a speech from Representative Ivy Spohnholz.

The event is free, open to the public and everyone is invited to come and enjoy food, fun, and helping us say thank you to some key people and organizations that have made a difference for families in Alaska. Attendees are strongly requested to RSVP to ensure adequate planning. Registration and information is available at www.stonesoupgroup.org or 561-3701.
