Become a Mentor Parent

Looking back, some of the most valuable support we received came from talking to another parent who had been in a similar situation. If you are ready to be that support for someone else, become a Family Support Volunteer through the Stone Soup Group’s Mentor. Advocate. Partner. (MAP) program.

My Gift

I am a stranger to you now, but let me walk with you for a while. Because I have been where you are, and where you are about to go. I have no answers, I offer instead by hand, my heart, my listening ear, my time and my experience… so that one day you can turn to another and say …

“I am a stranger to you now, but let me walk with you for a while…”

– By Alice Porembski

As a volunteer, you will be “matched” with another parent who has requested support. Matches will be made based on similar characteristics such as diagnosis, language or location. All volunteers must complete the MAP (Mentor, Advocate, Partner) Parent Support training before connecting with “new parents”.

It’s as easy as 1-2-3

  • Fill out the Volunteer MAP Become a Mentor application form
  • Complete the Volunteer MAP Mentor training
  • Get your first match and begin connecting and sharing with other families caring for children with special needs!

Contact us if you still have questions regarding this program!
