The Child Behind the Eyes, a monodrama by Nava Semel, portrays a mother and her son, Yotam who was born with Down syndrome. The night before his first day of school the mother remembers his birth and the first six years of his life.
Directed by Anchorage-based Vivienne Melde the play is further enhanced by Cristel Veraat’s original music. Nava Sarracino portrays the mother. The Child Behind the Eyes is a loving and poetic theatre piece which has been performed worldwide since its debut in 1987. This is the first time it will appear on an Anchorage stage.
