Alaska Epilepsy AWARE is a statewide pilot project begun in 2009, in collaboration with the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest (EFNW). Our goal is to provide epilepsy awareness, education and support to all Alaskan communities via special events, trainings, web links, resource materials and, when possible, one-on-one support.
Currently, the Alaska Center for Human Development in conjunction with EFNW has designed and developed a website specifically for Alaskan parents raising children that experience epilepsy at http://www.akepilepsy.org.
Stone Soup Group conducts special activities every year during Epilepsy Awareness month in November. We are having an Epilepsy Walk on June 19th. For more information go to www.epilepsynw.org. Our newsletter, the 'Soup of the Week', can keep you up-to-date on the latest plans and developments for all of our programs. You can subscribe to our mailing list here. It’s free, easy and short.
We are available to provide free Epilepsy Overview trainings (½ hour to 1 ½ hours) to organizations upon request. If this is something your organization would like to participate in, please contact Renée Leyland, Parent Navigator for families who experience Epilepsy: reneel@stonesoupgroup.org.
Other topics will be added as time and interest allow. If you have a resource, a topic or a link you believe would be a useful addition to this site, please contact Renée at reneel@stonesoupgroup.org.
This program is made possible by funding from the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest.
